2020 Chardonnay - 12 bottles - SOLD OUT
Ray Jordan Wine Review 2025 - 91 points
The chardonnays from Whimwood have been very good and this lighter style is right on the money for the style and quality bar set in recent years. Creamy nectarine with a quince paste and lemon rind edge creating balance and definition. Long minerally finish completes a tidy little wine.
An intoxicating return to our more familiar style, this wine a little plumper than the 2019 and has a little more oak influence. Again the fruit was hand picked and sorted with care then transported to the winery where the whole bunches were gently pressed to a combination of 1/3 new and 2/3 2nd and 3rd use French oak barriques. The juice was allowed to naturally ferment in the barrels then mature for 10 months prior to bottling.
Delicate aroma's of spicy French oak mingle with scents of orange blossom and a hint of toasted nuts. The flavours of white nectarine and citrus gently merge with a spicy vanilla texture and results in a wine with lovely balance.
