2023 Chardonnay - 12 bottles
Oak has been used with restraint, sitting quietly in support of the fruit and contributing a faint cinnamon-spice character. The wine is complex and layered, although its depth comes primarily from the intensity and character of the fruit rather than overt oak influence. The palate is rich and concentrated, with bright, citrus-like acidity providing freshness and balance. Initially, the fruit appears generous and relatively straightforward, but the wine builds through the mid-palate, revealing layers of butterscotch, roasted nuts and sourdough. Sweet, savoury and citrus elements come together seamlessly, leading into a long, lingering finish of crème caramel, burnt sugar and toasted bread. A deliciously rich, layered and thoroughly satisfying wine.
