2022 Shiraz - 12 bottles
Ray Jordan Wine Review 2025 - 91 points
An elegant medium bodied shiraz showing how well this variety can do in the Blackwood Valley in a slightly warmer year. It's soft and supple with a little peppery spice delving into the plush plummy fruit characters. Fine chalky tannins work neatly while the oak is underplayed and well-weighted. Bright with lots of sweet fruit appeal.
The Shiraz grapes were hand picked then transported to the winery for processing. They were crushed and de-stemmed to a small tank where the grapes were fermented with skins to extract natural tannin and colour. Following fermentation, the wine was pumped to barrel for maturation. The french oak barriques include 25% new oak to add complexity. After maturation the wine was pumped from barrel to tank where the wine was fined and filtered and then bottled.
The wine has vivid purple notes with an attractive blueberry, plum and vanilla nose with flavours of plum and a gentle vanilla flavour. The wine is rounded out with powdery tannins and a well balanced acidity which should allow the wine to age gracefully for up to 10 years.
